Storms in San Angelo are nothing new, and when they blow through, they usually leave a mess in backyard pools. This one wasn’t extreme, but like a lot of recent visits, the water was full of tree plumes, the pump was off, and the homeowner was understandably over it.
We recorded the whole cleanup using a GoPro Max 360 chest cam and a static Hero9 wide shot, so you can see exactly how we handled it — from skimming and backwashing to brushing and chemical balancing.

The video begins with us walking into the yard and scooping out large clusters of tree plumes by hand. The homeowner had turned the system off completely, frustrated by the constant buildup.
After clearing the surface, we moved to the pump area. The plumbing on this setup had recently been redone by someone else and was giving the homeowner trouble. The pump wouldn’t prime easily, and some lines were likely clogged with debris.
What We Did:
- Skimmed heavy plume buildup
- Emptied skimmer and pump baskets
- Diagnosed and cleared plumbing obstruction (off-camera)
- Backwashed the filter
- Re-primed the system and flushed out remaining plumes
- Added chlorine and shock
- Brushed the entire pool for a clean finish
Even though there were a few hiccups behind the scenes, we got the water flowing again and left the pool looking crystal clear — without the homeowner needing to overhaul their system or spend thousands.
